Advanta Business World Mastercard Reviewed

Advanta is a niche credit card provider that targets small businesses and start-ups. Unlike companies such as American Express, or Chase, Advanta does not have credit card offers for consumers (though consumers are more than welcome to apply for Advanta business credit cards as no EIN is needed).

Advanta’s newest card, Advanta Business World Mastercard, is specifically designed to fit the needs of small businesses and start-ups alike. Unlike traditional Advanta offers, which were designed to provide the business owners with lucrative introductory offers, the Advanta World Card is specifically designed to provide the cardholder with the best set of rewards possible.

The Advanta Business Word Mastercard allows you to earn 1 point for each dollar spent with the card. In addition, Advanta offers 50% bonus on the number of points earned to those who pay their bills on time. This is certainly a measure taken by Advanta to encourage holders to pay on time and avoid costly late fees.

The Advanta World Card does not come with any preset spending limit. What it means is that you don’t have to settle for a credit line of $3,000 if your credit score is close to $800. Advanta will offer limits to cardholders based on credit history, so it is necessary to have a good credit score in order to maximize your benefits with the Advanta World Card.

The Advanta Business World card offers unlimited points, so you can keep earning as you spend with your business card. You can redeem your points in cash or towards travel, gift certificates, or merchandize for your business. In addition, there is no annual fee and balance transfer fee for this card, so you can take advantage of all these rewards without having to pay a dime to Advanta upfront.

The Advanta World Mastercard does come with a high variable APR (16.99% at the time of this writing). So it is necessary to avoid parking large balances on your world card.

The World card is not for everyone. Advanta has specifically designed this card to meet the needs of small businesses and start-ups. Consumers are allowed to apply for this card, but it is recommended that you do not park large balances with this card due to this high variable APR.

With all the rewards and incentives available through Advanta rewards program, the Advanta World can save your business a significant amount in the long run.

The Future of the Business World

Globalization is becoming a norm in today’s society. Although people are afraid it has many drawbacks, it is impossible to be stopped. It is important for future business leaders to understand globalization and to be educated with this concept, so the negative effects can be prevented. Along with the negatives, there are also positives of this revolutionizing future. The future is filled with new jobs, students gaining international knowledge, and international standards becoming increasingly relevant. If we, as students don’t learn how countries work politically and economically we will eventually fail altogether. It is important that we become aware of this issue and educate ourselves on what the future may bring.

One of the positives of globalization in the business world is the creation of new jobs. With the increase of globalization, students can find themselves working in multinational corporations upon graduation. In addition, businessmen and women will have opportunities to travel to other countries and find work there. For example, Bruce Pounders states, “… it also presents new career opportunities for those who embrace the continuous, accelerating change that characterizes globalization.” In other words, there are job openings for people willing to take the next step, open their minds to new ideas, and adapt to new environments. Many people are not a fan of change and are not ready for globalization to take over. That is why is it extremely important to begin teaching students the importance of globalization and getting them to realize that this is what the future consists of. (“How Globalization is Affecting U.S. Accountants.”)

With the help of globalization, businessmen and women will gain important international knowledge and skills that will help them be successful in the long run. It is significant for business leaders to know how each country around the world conducts business. Recently, business employers started to look for candidates with the ability to analyze international markets. As a result, textbooks are being revised every year and it is becoming mandatory for students to take one or more years of foreign languages. Furthermore, the systems are changing rapidly and corporations are preparing their employees for globalization as best and as fast as they can. Jessica Nolan claimed in her article that, “companies are demanding that their employees attend seminars, workshops, and classes relating to globalization,” so that they know how to handle the rapid change and how to embrace it. In addition, learning tolerance and respect for other cultures is another important feature of globalization and a great international skill to have. It has been said many times that students are not learning the proper skills that are needed for the real world. “Global and International Issues in College Education,” an article written by Alina M. Zapalska, Steve Shuklian, Denis Rudd, and Frank Flanegin, states “Knowledge of how other countries affect us and how we affect the rest of the world must be incorporated in business curriculum,” (149). Furthermore, we, as students would gain a lot more knowledge and understanding of the world if we were exposed to it in school. Also, we would have more years of experience in this subject. Once again, students and employees are in desperate need to learn about globalization and understand the importance of it. (“Globalization’s impact on Accounting Education).

Lastly, international standards are becoming increasingly relevant. We used to believe that the U.S. GAAP was the highest quality set of financial accounting and reporting standards in the world, but lately it has been an issue with the world becoming more globalized. There has been a lot of talk of cancelling out U.S. GAAP and according to an article, IASB Chairman Sir David Tweedie states, “Within the next five years we expect the accounting standards of major economies such as those of Japan, Canada, China and India to converge with IFRSs while at the same time the differences between international standards and U.S. GAAP are being eliminated.” With the world becoming more globalized it is important that everyone around the world operates the same way economically. Furthermore, with foreign trade being significant, having different financial and accounting standards creates too many complications. IFRS and U.S. GAAP is in the process of being converged and according to Sir David Tweedie, “The aim of one set of high quality global standards will hopefully be achieved in the next few years.” Altogether, future accountants need to be aware of the changes coming soon and will need to learn the new standards that will be used all over the world. Therefore, students need to recognize these changes that are occurring and what the future may bring. (“How Globalization is Affecting U.S. Accountants”).

All in all, globalization is an occurring phenomenon that is impossible to be stopped and will change the future of the business world. Although many people see negative effects, there are also some good positives that come along with it as well. New jobs will be created, international skills and knowledge will be gained, and the world will have one set of high quality global standards. The only negative I see is the fact that no one is aware of this rapid upcoming change. If students do not take notice of this and professors are not making an effort to educate their students, then we are destined to become failures. Without knowledge and understanding, future accountants will have a big reality check when they enter the real world after graduating college. Globalization is going to have a major impact on accountants and future business leaders and as long as we educate ourselves I see nothing but positives for our future.

Social Media and The Business World

For kids growing up today they did not know what it was like without MySpace, Facebook, or Twitter. Go back just one decade and it all started with AIM Instant Messenger. However, the big limitation to AIM was it was not beneficial for the business world. That would change soon though as social media evolved very quickly.

AIM allowed you to basically text one another over the computer and you could have running conversations with many people at once. However, it was very limited for business applications. No one would ever do business with the old social media types prior to Facebook and LinkedIn. Now the world has changed and companies must adapt to the new world or risk going out of business.
While AIM was becoming popular so were web-cams. These allow people to see each other and chat at the same time. This is really important in the business world as clients and suppliers can meet face to face to help close the deal.

The major downfall of AIM was the lack of business information. You could not portray what your business was about or anything like it. Now, most people check social media to make sure the business is legitimate and if they cannot be found many will wonder why the company does not use social media.

MySpace allowed you to customize your own web-page with music, pictures, and whatever else you wanted. It took off so fast that AIM was basically left in the dust and it went from being used by almost everyone to being used by almost no one.

That is the thing with technology, it quickly changes and the changes are often severe. MySpace was an innovative creation that really came along at the time where almost everyone was getting high speed internet. This was important because these large media filled web pages would have taken all day to load at slow internet speeds. Each of these improvements allowed businesses to thrive and display information about their products or services offered. MySpace was a huge leap for the business world and everyone in it.

With the new age of social media changing there was soon going to be another player in the game. Facebook came along and competed side by side with MySpace before taking over the lead. Many feel Facebook provides a better interface and it is easier to follow what companies had to offer and could even offer a customer service link that could not be provided before. Now, many can directly send customers to their web sites and hopefully get them to place an order.

Another newcomer is now making a strong impression on people and that is Twitter. People basically say what they are doing in just a few characters and need to make a quick and witty comment in order for people to Tweet it to others. The real benefit to Twitter is you can just make quick comments and do not have to have an elaborate site. Business benefit quite a bit as they can have a saying of the day or another similar idea that will get people talking about their company. Free advertising is the best.

Over the past 10 years social media has really changed how the business world acts. I am sure it will change again soon, but companies must act now and do the best they can with the current resources at hand. The real question to ask would be is it worth it? I would argue it is very worth it and almost essential to business today.

The benefits of social media are many. Business can now access more and more customers for free. All those sites are free and that gets the companies’ name into millions of new homes that would never have been seen before. These sites also allow you to post specials, download coupons, and use other forms of marketing that were not available 10 – 15 years ago. Almost all of the Fortune 500 companies use social media in one way or another. I am sure their marketing departments love the fact these media outlets are free resources to use to promote their goods or services. The only real cost to them is the labor hours incurred in updating their sites.

Not all businesses use social media for the same reason though. Some do it to push sales while others do it to inform the consumers. Many people and companies have their specific reasons to use it.

What are your reasons?
